My new site. For to long have us men had to suffer alone. Our wives ignoring us for Edward. We now have a place to have our voices heard. Twilight Widower is that place. Here I discuss ways to annoy your wife and ways to divert her attention away from Twilight.
I have been waiting for this for quite some time. To be honest I thought it would of already come about. Now Time Warner has come out and said they are going to start metered internet access. To me this is a very bad idea. As technology moves forward we are going to start using more and more bandwidth. If users are on a metered internet connection they will not adopt the technology because they will have to pay extra just to use it. Read the rest of this entry »
I have recently been trying to understand what the anime companies are doing. Most seem to be trying to go out of business. It appears they are trying to go for the quick buck and that is it. The only thing I see coming out now is shonen anime. Their is nothing wrong with that if only a few companies are doing it, but now every company is. Between Naruto, One Piece, DBZ, Bleach, and countless others I am getting tired of them.
The fact that Geneon went under has a lot of them scared. They no longer appear to want to take a chance on any thing that isn’t safe. Geneon was my favorite US anime company. They where the ones that released Techi Muyo, 3×3 Eyes, Ah! My Goddess, and Excel Saga. All where experimental series when they came to America. If a company did that today they would have my business. Viz at one time also did this but now they only seem to be concerned with the likes of Naruto and Bleach. They released Ranma 1/2 which in my opinion was a huge risk when it came out.
The only move that I have seen Viz make recently that I think will work is the announcement that they are going to start airing Naruto the same day it is aired in Japan dubed on their website. This will get rid of a lot of the fan-sub groups and they will get ad revenue from the people who watch it.
Something else I see that the anime companies are making a mistake on are box sets. If you want to buy Welcome to NHK in the boxset you have to by 2. It is sold at part one and part 2. Thats not bad in itself but when you charge $50 for each part I start seeing a problem. It is cheaper to buy each dvd individually then it is to buy the 2 box sets. At least you can get them second hang for like $5-$10 each.
If anime companies want to start making more money they need to lower the price of their dvd’s. Charging $30 for 3-4 episodes will no longer work. Its to popular and to many people are getting them alternate ways. Also they are losing their long term customers because we are tired of seeing the same old story told to us but with a different title. Take some chances and release something different. Hell dub haunted Junction and release it, I have it subbed but if it was sold dubbed I would go buy it. In conclusion get your head out of your butt and start looking at what you are going to be missing in customers if you stay on the road you are currently on.
The people that know me know that I do not like to talk about politics because it is the fastest way to start an argument. This is an exception. I want to know why no one is talking at the $700 billion bailout that is happening. Yes they are saying that it is happening but no one is saying where it is coming from or if it will be paid back. The administration also stated that they see no need to include it in the budget.
I think the problem is that we never see that much money, so we really don’t understand how much it is. So lets look at it another way. The largest ever lottery winning was $365 million. That $365,000,000, that is a lot of money. I know if I was to win that me, my kids, grandkids, … would be set for a long time. The $700 billion is $700,000,000,000. That is 1918 times as much money. That means if you won the lottery for $365 million 1918 times you would have $700 billion dollars. It would also take you 18.4 years if you won every time their was a drawing.
I am going to stop my rant here before my head explodes. In my opinion lets do what ever Ron Paul says and be done with it.
As many people know Blizzard won its recent case against glider. I think (and hope) it will be overturned in the future. The reasons why is because it sets a dangerous president. It says that because glider ran the game in momory it was breaking copyright. Well everyting is copied into memory to play. If this holds up then the RIAA and the MPAA can say any digital copy of their music is in violation of their copyright because it is being copied into memory. I hope that the corts wise up and see the can of worms that they are about to open.
I remember when anime was something that no one knew about. It was something that you had to actively search for to find. You couldn’t turn on the TV or go to your local store to buy it. The only way you could find it was if you knew a guy who knew a guy who knew a guy that had a copy of a copy of a copy of Akira. It would be some smelly guy that was in his 30′s that had an apartment filled to the celling with toys and comic books. He was a god in his day. He was the coolest guy you knew because he lived alone and you thought that was the greatest thing ever. He had all the cool toys and a collection of playboys to rival your dads. The video would be so grainy that you can barely read the subtitles. Yes subtitles, there were no dubs back then. If you were really unlucky you had a sheet of paper that was printed out that had the translation on it. Talking about missing something when you are a slow reader and trying to figure out what was just said then looking up to see the guy who just said it laying in a pool of his own blood.
Also the anime seemed better then. Today all I see are remakes and rehashes of old stories. I am tired of the good guy working really hard training to beat the bad guy then going and beating him (DBZ, Naruto, yu-gi-oh, …). I think shonen anime has run it’s course. The last show I saw that I really enjoyed was Shuffle, yes I know its coming out in America now. I saw it 2 years ago, its not new. I want to see something that makes me really want to see the next episode. Yes, there are good things coming out like Hellsing Ultimate, but they are direct translations from the manga that I have already read so they are nothing new.
The crowd that is into anime currently appears to know nothing but Naruto or Dragon Ball Z. I recently saw a cosplay competition and everyone their was dressed up as a Naruo or DBZ character. What happened to the day when you would go to a cosplay convention and see characters from a 100 different anime’s? I guess those days are over. Look, I know you like Naruto and DBZ but they are not the end all be all of anime.
I have seen a lot of people talking about this recently, so I thought I would throw my 2 cents worth in. I don’t remember, I have always had game consoles around. I remember the atari 2600 when I was really young and even the NES. I think I had the 2600 first but I can’t be positive. I even remember having some games you played with your vcr and had this thing you stuck on your TV that lit up when you got shot. I don’t remember much about it, but it was fun when I was young. What was your first game experience?
